Cloud BYOC for Twilio, Zoom and other CPaaS users

Dear Developers,

We know that the “Bring Your Own Carrier” (BYOC) feature offered by Twilio and Zoom Phone is a great way to gain control over your call quality on the carrier side. However, we’ve noticed that scaling up your BYOC trunks can become complicated and lack advanced routing controls, such as LCR and Weight, especially for developers who don’t have a Session Border Controller (SBC) or SMSC in place.

Acquiring an SBC or SMSC just for this task is costly and requires additional resources to manage, secure, and operate them. As a result, developers may end up relying on the Cloud Communication provider’s connectivity for convenience.

To address these challenges, we’re launching the Cloud BYOC project, a community-inspired SaaS project that leverages the BYOC feature offered by your existing Twilio, Zoom Phone, and other cloud services.

The aim of this project is to enable you to have a single BYOC profile with your API provider and control routing policies to multiple carriers via the Cloud BYOC portal without creating another BYOC profile per trunk. By using Cloud BYOC, you can easily switch between hundreds of alternative carriers without being tied to a single one.

Cloud BYOC provides all the necessary tools to manage your costs across different providers without the need for an SBC or billing system. We welcome both developers and carriers to join us in solving the cloud communication BYOC debate once and for all.
